If you think Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is weird, you ain't seen nothing yet. Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men from Mars was an earlier Indy 4 screenplay that George Lucas loved but Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford refused to do because it had more in common with Independence Day than the Indy films. It was rejected for good reason, but still I felt it had too many redeeming qualities to go to waste - and granted, that may be just because I love sci-fi anyway - so I set out to see if I could make something of it. I started during my senior year of high school and finished after my second senior year of college. Only a couple of changes needed to be made to avoid redundancy with Crystal Skull and fit into the established Indiana Jones continuity, and on top of that I added a lot of dialogue and details and a prologue and epilogue because the screenplay was just too dang short for a novelization. I'm not sure how they intended to make it into a movie.
